Chapter 9
9And—the—fifth—messenger—blew,—and—I—saw—a—star,—out—of—heaven—fallen—to—the—earth,—and—unto—him—was—given—the—key—of—the—shaft—of—the—bottomless—pit.—
2And—he—opened—the—shaft—of—the—bottomless—pit;—and—there—ascended—a—smoke—out—of—the—shaft,—as—the—smoke—of—a—great—furnace;—and—the—sun—and—the—air—were—darkened—from—the—smoke—of—the—shaft.—
3And—out—of—the—smoke—came—locusts—to—the—earth,—and—unto—them—was—given—power,—as—the—scorpions—of—the—earth—have—power.—
4And—it—was—said—unto—them—that—they—should—not—hurt—the—grass—of—the—earth,—neither—any—green—thing,—nor—any—tree;—except—the—men—who—have—not—the—seal—of—God—on—their—foreheads.—
5And—unto—them—it—was—given—that—they—should—not—kill—them,—but—that—they—should—be—tormented—five—months,—and—their—torment—was—as—the—torment—of—a—scorpion,—when—it—strikes—a—man.—
6And—in—those—days—the—men—will—seek—death,—and—will—in—no—way—find—it;—and—will—yearn—to—die,—and—death—flees—from—them.—
7And—the—likenesses—of—the—locusts—were—like—horses—prepared—to—war;—and—on—their—heads—were—as—it—were—crowns—like—gold,—and—their—faces—were—as—the—faces—of—men.—
8And—they—had—hair—as—the—hair—of—women,—and—their—teeth—were—as—of—lions.—
9And—they—had—breastplates,—as—it—were—breastplates—of—iron;—and—the—voice—of—their—wings—was—as—the—voice—of—chariots—of—many—horses—running—to—war.—
10And—they—have—tails—like—scorpions,—and—stings,—and—in—their—tails—is—their—power—to—hurt—the—men—five—months.—
11They—have—over—them—a—king,—the—messenger—of—the—bottomless—pit,—whose—name—in—the—Hebrew—tongue—is—Abaddon,—and—in—the—Greek—tongue—he—has—the—name—Apollyon.—
12The—one—woe—has—passed;—behold,—there—comes—yet—two—woes—after—these—things.—
13And—the—sixth—messenger—blew,—and—I—heard—one—voice—from—the—[four]—horns—of—the—golden—altar—which—is—before—God,—
14saying—unto—the—sixth—messenger,—who—has—the—trumpet,—Release—the—four—messengers—who—are—bound—at—the—great—river—Euphrates.—
15And—the—four—messengers—were—released,—who—were—prepared—for—the—hour,—and—day,—and—month,—and—year,—that—they—should—kill—the—third—part—of—the—men.—
16And—the—number—of—the—armies—of—the—horsemen—was—two—hundred—thousand—thousand:—I—heard—the—number—of—them.—
17And—so—I—saw—the—horses—in—the—visionʰ,—and—those—who—sat—on—them,—having—breastplates—of—fire,—and—of—jacinth,—and—of—brimstone,—and—the—heads—of—the—horses—were—as—the—heads—of—lions;—and—out—of—their—mouths—proceeds—fire—and—smoke—and—brimstone.—
18By—these—three—plagues—was—killed—the—third—part—of—the—men,—by—the—fire,—and—the—smoke,—and—the—brimstone,—which—proceeds—out—of—their—mouths.—
19For—the—power—of—the—horses—is—in—their—mouth—and—in—their—tails:—for—their—tails—are—like—serpents,—having—heads,—and—with—them—they—hurt.—
20And—the—restʳ—of—the—men,—who—were—not—killed—by—these—plagues,—neither—repented—of—the—works—of—their—hands,—that—they—should—not—worship—the—demons,—and—the—idols—of—gold,—and—silver,—and—brass,—and—stone,—and—woodenˣ:—which—neither—can—see,—nor—hear,—nor—walk:—
21and—they—repented—not—of—their—murders,—nor—of—their—sorceries,—nor—of—their—fornication,—nor—of—their—thefts.—
